9 class BIOLOGY FA 4 LAB ACTIVITY

NAME OF THE EXPERIMENT:
Nutritional Study of Cattle Feed

Aim:
The aim of this experiment was to observe the components of cattle feed and identify roughage and concentrates.

Materials Required:
Green fodder, dry straw, grains, oil cake, notebook, pen.

Procedure:
I observed the feed given to dairy animals. The feed materials were examined carefully. Fibrous feed like grass and straw were identified as roughage, while grains and oil cakes were identified as concentrates. The feed was classified into roughage and concentrates based on their texture and nutrient content. The information was noted down.

Observation:
Roughage contained more fibre and was bulky. Concentrates were rich in proteins and nutrients. Cattle were given both types of feed as a balanced ration.

Result and Discussion:
It was observed that roughage helps in digestion, while concentrates improve milk production. Balanced feeding keeps animals healthy and productive.

Inference:
Both roughage and concentrates are essential for proper nutrition and milk yield in cattle.

Precautions:
Feed should be clean and fresh. Proper quantity should be given. Clean drinking water must be provided.
