chromosomes present in the ovule.
• 22 + X
6.
Which part of the brain helps us in riding a bicycle?
• Cerebellum
SECTION – II 2 marks. 4 x 2 = 8 M
7.
What is the need of taking lodine in food? Write the consequences of lodine
deficiency.
• Iodine is needed for thyroxin hormone production.
• Deficiency causes goitre and poor growth.
8.
What is the role of HCl in human digestive system.
• Kills harmful bacteria in food.
• Activates pepsin for protein digestion.
9.
Read the paragraph and answer the following questions.
We know that the food we eat acts as fuel to provide energy to do work.
As we have studied the autotrophs capture the energy present in sunlight and
convert into chemical energy From autotrophs, the energy goes to the
heterotrophs and decomposers
a)
What is the energy source in an ecosystem?
• Sunlight
b)
Write flow of energy in an ecosystem in the form of a flow chart?
• Sun → Autotrophs → Heterotrophs → Decomposers
10.
Suggest two precautions to maintain a healthy nervous system for proper body co
ordination.
• Eat nutritious food and take proper rest.
• Avoid alcohol, drugs, and stress.
SECTION – III 4 marks 5 X 4 = 20 M
11.
What is a role of Bile in our digestive system ? Name the enzyme present in ?
· Bile
neutralises acidic food from stomach.
· Bile's
main role in digestion is fat
emulsification.
· Helps
in digestion of fats.
· It
activates the fat-digesting enzyme, lipase, from the pancreas.
· Bile
does not contain enzymes.
12. a) Draw a neat labelled diagram of human
excretory system ?
(Or)
12. b) Draw the neat labelled diagram of
female reproductive
system ?
13.
Write some safe disposal methods to maintain non-biodegradable generated in
your house.
• Segregate plastic, glass, metal separately.
• Reuse items wherever possible.
• Give waste to recycling centres.
• Avoid burning plastics.
14.
What questions would you pose, if you get a chance to meet a cardiologist ?
• How can I keep my heart healthy?
• What foods are good for heart health?
• What are early symptoms of heart disease?
• How much exercise is required daily?
15.
What are trophic levels ? Give an example of food chain and state different
trophic levels in it ?
• Trophic levels are steps in a food chain.
• Each level represents energy transfer.
• Example food chain: Grass → Deer → Lion.
• Grass – Producer.
• Deer – Primary consumer.
• Lion – Secondary consumer.
SECTION – IV 2 × 8 = 16 M
16.a) Write the experimental procedure to prove the
action of saliva on starch.
Aim: To prove the action of saliva on starch
Apparatus:
- 2
test tubes
- Starch
solution
- Saliva
- Iodine
solution
Procedure:
1.
Take 2 test tubes
2.
Add 1 ml of starch solution to each test tube.
3.
Label them A and B.
4.
Add 1 ml of saliva to test tube A.
5.
After 30 minutes, add iodine solution to test
tube A and B
Observation:
- Test
Tube A: No color change (indicating no starch).
- Test
Tube B: Turns blue-black (indicating starch
presence).
Result: Proved the action of saliva on starch
(Or)
b) Describe the procedure you followed to prove phototrophism in plants ?
Aim
To demonstrate plant growth towards light.
Apparatus
Flask, water, wire mesh, germinating seeds, cardboard box.
Procedure
1.
Fill flask with
water
2.
Cover with wire
mesh
3.
Place germinating
seeds on wire mesh
4.
Keep in one side
open cardboard box
5.
Face box towards
light
6.
Shoots bend towards
light
7.
Rotate flask
opposite
Observation
Shoots bend towards light showing positive phototropism.
Even after rotation, shoots again grow towards light.
Result: Light influences
the direction of shoot growth.
17.a) Analyse different modes of Asexual Reproduction in animals with
diagrams ?
1. Binary Fission
• One parent organism divides into two identical individuals.
• Nucleus divides first, followed by cytoplasm.
• eg: Amoeba, Paramecium.
2. Multiple Fission
• Parent nucleus divides many times inside the body.
• Cytoplasm surrounds each nucleus to form many offspring. eg: Plasmodium.
3. Budding
• A small outgrowth (bud) forms on the parent body.
• Bud grows and separates as a new individual.
• eg: Hydra, Yeast.
4. Fragmentation
• Parent body breaks into fragments.
• Each fragment grows into a new organism.
eg:Sponges.
5. Regeneration
• Ability to regrow lost body parts.
• Each cut piece can form a complete organism.
• eg: Planaria, Starfish.
(Or)
b) Analyse the process of monohybrid cross with checker boards given by Mendel.
·
Mendel crossed pure-breeding tall plants (TT)
with pure-breeding dwarf(short) plants (tt).
·
F1--Generation:

T |
T |

t |
Tt |
Tt |

t |
Tt |
Tt |
·
All offspring (F1) were tall.
·
The tall trait is dominant
·
The dwarf trait is recessive.
·
He allowed the F1 tall plants (Tt) to
self-pollinate.
·
F2 Generation:

Phenotypic ration is 3:1 (Tall : Short)
Genotypic Ratio is 1:2:1 (TT : Tt : tt).
